Hey guys!!
My name is Inka and I host the 50-Minute Hit Blitz, Mondays-Thursdays from 12-3pm and on Fridays, I host the RT30 Countdown--the longest-running countdown show on Philippine radio! That happens from 3-6pm.
Now that the quick introduction is over, I'd also like to let you guys know a little bit more about me! My friends all call me Inka, so yeah, that's my real name. I have adult ADD, so I tend to like almost everything that comes my way.
I've done a few sports since my childhood and that includes basketball and football, but what really stuck with me was swimming and badminton. I'm actually pretty good at those hehe! My fastest time, if I'm not mistaken, is 50m in 18seconds. Now that I think about it...I don't even remember if that's it D: but whatever.
From sports, I moved on to dancing. I did a bit of street jazz, some jazz basics, some latin dances and all, but I'm really a belly dancer! I started out belly dancing when I was 16, and since then, I've not been dancing as often, but it's still in here somewhere. That helped me hone my flexibility (I was already pretty flexible to begin with lol), so when I took up Muay Thai 2 years later, it helped with my form and my reach! So I did that for about a year and a half, and then I kinda took my theatre and voice more seriously (I started when I was around 12..I think. Not sure on the details. BLASTED ADD)
I performed in a few recitals and all, and then I was hired by 99.5rt as a jock when I was 19 years old :) I started working for RT when I was 14, I did their imaging back then because I've been doing voice acting since before I had double digits for my age (around 5 or 6).
Since that first time I went on the air (which was a TERRIBLE experience for me--I WAS SO SCARED I CRIED), I've had so many realizations!
First realization: I'm VERY proud to say that I'm a second-generation jock, perhaps the first and only in the Philippines (correct me if I'm wrong) because BOTH my parents came from 99.5rt. My dad, Jeremiah Jr. has been in the industry for over 20 years, and the same goes for my mom! She started out as a newscaster at 99.5rt, and then she was moved to Wave 89.1 where she became a jock, hosting their weekly countdown, Soul Review.
Second realization: My thoughts about radio being dead--completely wrong! When I started interacting with everyone during my shifts, I thought about how many people actually listen to radio. Also, it's a very effective tool to get people going, to inspire people, to make big gestures of love, it's a release, it's a friend--everything! Radio is actually SO ALIVE!
Third realization: There's good music in the mainstream, too! I never really listened to the radio because my parents were in it, and you know if your parents have a certain trade, then you're kind of "sawa" of it because you're always there, they talk about it all the time 'coz it's work, so I didn't really care for radio, so I just looked for songs on my own. Getting into RT and being exposed to mainstream music again also jolted me in a way that I felt like I was missing out some parts of music because I overlooked the pop songs!
I'll stop there because, you know, to be sexy and mysterious, you can't give everything away :>
I wanted to post about me because I find it to be a better experience when you tune in to someone and know a little bit about the person, just like when you hear your favorite band on the air and freak out because you have a special, almost personal connection to them because you know so much about them.
My only goal as a jock is to make your radio experience golden, much like how my parents and their co-jocks did it back in the 80s and 90s. Let's bring back the golden age of radio! :)
Enjoy listening guys :)
With a whole lotta love,
Inka Dinka Doo <3
